What is the CDCP?
It's a federal program that helps Canadians without dental insurance get the care they need at little or no cost — a helping hand for anyone who's been putting off the dentist because of price.
Now Covers All Ages
Since June 2025, the CDCP covers all age groups — kids, adults, and seniors. If you don't have coverage through work, school, or a private plan, you may qualify.
Do You Qualify?
You may be eligible if you don't have access to dental insurance, you've filed your taxes, your household income is under $90,000, and you're a Canadian resident for tax purposes.
What's Covered
The CDCP helps cover most basic and necessary dental services that keep your mouth healthy. Cosmetic procedures like whitening, veneers, and most braces aren't part of standard coverage.

Do I really have to go to the dentist frequently?

How often you go for dental exams depends on your oral health needs. The goal is to catch small problems early. For many people, this means a dental exam every six months. Dr. Arora may suggest that you visit more or less often depending on how well you care for your teeth and gums, problems that need to be checked or treated, how fast tartar builds up, and so on.
Do I need x-rays at each visit?

How often you need x-rays also depends on your oral health. A healthy adult who has not had cavities or other problems for a couple of years probably won't need x-rays at every appointment. If your dental situation is less stable and your dentist is monitoring your progress, you may require more frequent x-rays.
How can I get my records transferred?

Original dental records belong to the dentist who provided the treatment, not the patient, because dentists must keep all records for a period of time set out by their provincial dental regulatory body. Once you've selected a new dentist, you can request that a copy of your records be transferred from your former dentist.
